nouth of NYS Route 49): General Information: The Village Clerk’s office is responsible for maintaining custody of the Village seal, books, records and papers. The Village Clerk is the official clerk of the Board of Trustees and the Deputy Clerk is the official clerk for the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals. They are responsible for preparing agendas and maintaining an indexed compilation of minutes from the three Boards. The Office of the Village Clerk is the primary point of contact when telephoning or visiting the Village of Central Square’s Administrative Office. The Clerk’s Office maintains a record of all local laws. The Village Clerk is responsible for responding to requests for access to public records. Pursuant to the provisions of the Freedom of Information Law, the Village charges $0.25 per page for copying of public records. The Clerk is also authorized to administer the Oath of Office to village officers. Village Office Closed For Holidays: The Village Employees are off on the following holidays and therefore our offices are closed: New Years Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday, Washington’s Birthday**, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. * This holiday is designated as "Washington's Birthday" in section 6103(a) of title 5 of the United States Code, which is the law that specifies holidays for Federal employees. Though other institutions such as state and local governments and private businesses may use other names, it is our policy to always refer to holidays by the names designated in the law. If a holiday falls on a Saturday, the holiday will be taken on preceding Friday. If the holiday falls on a Sunday the Holiday will be taken on the following Monday.
