Brief History: Girl Scouting in Central Square was started by Captain Esther Landers and Lieutenant Carol LaTourneau in 1937. In the 1960's troops were organized by neighborhoods, Central Square, Mallory, Ft. Brewerton, West Monroe and Hastings. Now (2009) troops are part of the Lakeview Service Unit which goes along more with the school boundaries (Central Square, Brewerton, Hastings-Mallory, Constantia and Cleveland).

Boy Scout Troop 734 (Central Square): Scoutmaster Charles Harriger: 315.668.6007
Sponsored by the Central Square Fire Company, the Boy Scouts service the community through their participation in community clean up and removal of snow from the fire hydrants. Each Eagle Scout designs and implements an eagle project as a gift to their church, school or community. They regularly participate in parades and each Memorial Day assist the American Legion with the Flag Ceremony.
Camping is an important part of the scouting program and the Boy Scouts offers a range of camping opportunities. The Scouts meet at the Central Square Fire Station.

Sponsored by the Hastings Fire Company, the Cub Scouts service the community through their participation in community clean ups in Hastings and Central Square and tree plantings. They regularly participate in parades and local programs in Central Square such as Arbor Day, 9-11 and Tree Lighting. The Scouts meet at the Hastings-Mallory Elementary.
