CODE ENFORCEMENT

INSPECTIONS

The Code Enforcement Officer's responsibility is to enforce the International Building and Fire Protection Code, the New York State Uniform Building and Fire Protection Code, local municipal building codes, zoning ordinances, and multiple residency law. Duties are enforced as directed by the Village Board's adoption of laws.

The Mayor position, Trustee positions and Justice position are all elected positions (However the terms vary). Village elections are held in June of each year. You must be a register voter and village resident to vote in a village election. Voting takes place at the village offices.

Duties

Review building permit applications

  • Review building plans
  • Issue building permits
  • Perform building inspections
  • Issue certificates of occupancy & compliance

Fire Inspections

  • All public assembly occupancies annually
  • All other business occupancies every 2–3 years
  • Enforcement of Village Zoning Law
  • Regulation of land and building uses

Enforcement of additional regulations

  • Wetland regulations
  • Flood Plain regulations
  • Storm Water Management
